‘Captain Marvel’ Is Projected to Make Around $160 Million During Opening Weekend

The film is projected to garner between $156 million to $160 million during its debut weekend, Deadline reports. According to the publication, Captain Marvel made $20.7 million on Thursday night and is expected to make $63.5 million on Friday. The film had a budget of $152 million. Deadline also points out that 2017’s Beauty and the Beast made $174.7M in its opening weekend, making it the best debut week for a film in the month of March. Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice comes in second with $166 million.
Captain Marvel, which was directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, stars Brie Larson in the titular role. Samuel L. Jackson, Lee Pace, Clark Gregg, Jude Law, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Djimon Hounsou, and Annette Bening also star. The film’s screenplay is from Anna Boden, Ryan Fleck, and Geneva Robertson-Dworet.
