Cardi B and Drake Secure Multiple 2019 iHeartRadio Music Award Nominations
Written by SOURCE on January 9, 2019
The iHeartRadio Music Awards are upon us.
In a couple of months, the sixth annual ceremony will return to Los Angeles to celebrate some of the industry’s biggest chart-toppers—specifically honoring those who received the most plays on iHeartRadio platforms.
“Millions of music’s biggest fans have once again made their voices heard and, of course, we listened,” Tom Poleman, Chief Programming Officer for iHeartMedia, said in a press release. “What makes our iHeartRadio Music Awards categories so special is that they truly reflect the artists, songs and moments that have defined this past year in entertainment. We can’t wait to see who wins.”
The 2019 nominees include Cardi B, Drake, Ariana Grande, Post Malone, Dua Lipa, Kendrick Lamar, and Shawn Mendes. Cardi is up for more than a dozen trophies, landing nominations in categories like Female Artist of the Year, Hip-Hop Artist of the Year, Best R&B Song of the Year (“Finesse” remix with Bruno Mars), Song of the Year (“Girls Like You” with Maroon 5), and five Best Music Video nominations.
This year’s ceremony will, of course, allow fans to decide winners in several new and established categories: Favorite Tour Photography, Best Cover Song, Best Solo Breakout, Song That Left Us Shook, and more. Fans can vote using the appropriate category and nominee hashtags on Twitter, or by visiting iHeartRadio.com/awards. Voting begins today and will close March 7.
You can check out this year’s nominees below. The 2019 iHeartRadio Music Awards will go down March 14 at Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The show will air at 8 p.m. ET on Fox, and can also be live-streamed online and on iHeartMedia radio stations.
