Cardi B Stays Silent When Asked If She’d Ever Perform With Nicki Minaj

Cardi B briefly remembered the old saying “if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.” The rapper went quiet when asked if she would be willing to perform with Nicki Minaj.
In an interview with Variety in which Cardi effusively praised other acts like BTS (and political candidates like Bernie Sanders), she couldn’t find even a scrap of tolerance for Minaj. When the interviewer brought up the Queen rapper, Cardi fell uncharacteristically quiet, blinking, and smiling at the camera until the interviewer attempted an awkward “Okurrr!” segue.
It’s hard to blame Cardi for not wanting to collaborate with her most high-profile rival: A quick look at the numbers proves that Cardi doesn’t need the boost. The one-time upstart is leads all artists in the recently announced Billboard Music Awards with an impressive 21 nominations.
Cardi’s feud with Nicki Minaj bubbled over into a fight in September at New York City’s Plaza Hotel. Cardi’s failed attempt to clear the air ended in a thrown shoe, but tempers seem to have cooled since then.
