Carmelo Anthony Isn’t Ruling Out Return to the Knicks: ‘I Have to See What’s Going On’

Written by on April 30, 2019

Carmelo Anthony could be making his return to the garden… maybe. On Sunday, it was reported that Anthony would consider resigning with the Knicks if KD makes New York his home this summer.

When the Knicks acquired Melo in 2011, the dynamic scorer brought a spark to the organization that had been waning for decades. Although he was unable to actualize their championship hopes, in just six years with the franchise Anthony put up 10,186 making him New York’s seventh-highest scorer of all time. With the Knicks once again in need of some excitement, fans are looking forward to this summer.

New York’s record has placed them in the position to draft a lottery pick while multiple league sources believe Durant will sign with the Knicks during his upcoming free agency. These speculations have the future looking bright for the franchise, leaving many to wonder if Melo, who’s 34, will don the orange and blue one more time before he officially retires.

“I have to see what’s going on,” Anthony told SNY when asked if he’d sign with the Knick if they land KD. “You’re asking the wrong person.”

This statement, combined with a smile, has added fuel to the fire surrounding Kevin Durant’s free agency.
