Carmelo Anthony Reportedly Signs With Blazers

It appears Carmelo Anthony has found his team.
Sources tell ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski that the forward has inked a non-guaranteed deal with the Portland Trail Blazers. Anthony has not played in the league since November 2018, when he was with the Houston Rockets. The franchise parted ways with the All-Star after he averaged 13.4 points and 5.4 rebounds across 10 regular season games. Houston ultimately traded to him to the Bulls. As expected, his time in Chicago was short-lived, and he was waived in early 2019. Anthony remained a free agent ever since.
Bobby Marks of ESPN reports Anthony will earn $14,490 per day while on the Blazers’ roster. The deal will reportedly become fully guaranteed if he is not waived by Jan. 7.
Insiders say the 35-year-old athlete will join Portland on their upcoming six-game road trip, which begins this Saturday in San Antonio. Anthony will join Portland’s star duo CJ McCollum and Damian Lillard, who reportedly approved the signing before it was even locked down. The Blazers have continued to struggle this season amid a number of injuries and currently hold a record of 4-8.
