Looking back on his and Biggie’s first time hearing the track, Rivera explained to DJ Vlad just how shocking the track was at the time. Additionally, as Rivera detailed, Biggie was adamant on not worrying about a response at the time.

“All of a sudden Pac comes home [from jail] and we’re at a video shoot,” Rivera said, as seen above. “Somebody plays ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ for us and we all looked at each other like, ‘What the fuck just happened?’ Because, like I said, that record was hot. It was big. Me personally, like I said, I’m ready to go to war. I wanted to shoot a video the next day and make a song the next day and make one of those videos targeting Suge [Knight] and Death Row. Big was like, ‘Nah, we not gonna do anything. We’re not gonna even respond.’”

From there, Vlad brought up a 2017 interview Rivera did with DJ Self, specifically his assertion that Biggie had “cried like a baby” when hearing the Faith Evans line.

“He cried like a baby,” Rivera said in 2017 when pushing back against the “inaccuracies” of Biggie’s story, adding that both Pac and Big would be telling “a different story” if they were alive. “If you’re gonna tell it, tell. … It’s just that.”

The new Rivera interview arrives amid coverage of a podcast appearance by Fat Joe, who opened up on an episode of Angie Martinez’s Iconic Records about how Big Daddy Kane “saved” him from having to freestyle during a classic Biggie and 2Pac cypher in 1993.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Fat Joe on Being Saved From Having to Freestyle in Biggie and 2Pac Cypher

SOURCE

2pac

angie-martinez

big-daddy-kane

biggie

dfp-music

dfp-music-hiphop

dfp-music-other

fat-joe

Featured

freestyle

freestyles

Music

News

notorious-big

podcasts

the-notorious-big

tier-one

tupac-shakur

videos

Fat Joe says Big Daddy Kane “saved” him from having to launch into a key freestyle moment alongside 2Pac and Biggie. Preceding it around the 21:40 mark in the video below was a question from the host about whether there was realistically any competition against Biggie when it came to the “King of New York” status in the early ‘90s.

While there were others in the mix, Joe said, Biggie was “breaking so many boundaries” and “doing shit we’d never seen before.” At the time, he added, he was an artist whose level of greatness forced everyone else to “sharpen their swords” or risk getting left behind.

This led into a question about the classic Madison Square Garden cypher with 2Pac and Biggie in 1993.

“Man, I was in the front row watching Big Daddy Kane do his set and all of a sudden you see the crowd—the whole crowd—turn back, like, looking at the entrance, the tunnel … and it was Pac and B.I.G.,” Joe recalled.

The crowd was absolutely losing it, Joe said, as he pinpointed the exact moment he was spotted and asked to join them up on the stage.

“So while they was walking, they see me,” he said. “So Pac is like, ‘Yo, come on, Crack, come on!’ So I go with them. We go up on the stage. I think Shyheim was there too from Wu-Tang, Shyheim the Rugged Child. We went upstage and then they start that cypher, that ‘I got seven MAC-11’s, about eight 38’s, nine 9’s.’ You wanna talk about standing next to somebody? I was on fucking stage with Biggie and Pac!”

Joe says he was “nervous as fuck” at the time, crediting Kane with saving him thanks to a timely interruption.

“All I had was ‘Flow Joe,’” he said. “I ain’t had no bars ready, nothing. Big Daddy Kane might have saved me because I would have did some shit. And they passed me the mic [like] ‘Yo, Fat Joe!’ and then Big Daddy Kane interrupts and goes, ‘Yo, yo. We ain’t got no time.’”

Closing out his reflection on the 1993 cypher, Joe reiterated the personal importance of the moment.

“They saved me,” he said.

See the full interview below.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

2Pac’s Sister Slams Donald Trump’s Lawyer for Comparing Rapper to President

SOURCE

2pac

dfp-music

dfp-music-other

donald-trump

family

Featured

Music

News

tier-one

tupac-shakur

Donald Trump’s attorney compared the newly-indicted, former president to 2Pac—an analogy that upset the late rapper’s sister. “My brother was measured by his integrity, his principles and personal and collective responsibility,” Set Shakur told TMZ, saying that Trump’s lawyer, Alina Habba made “blasphemous” comments. Donald Trump is Biggie Smalls,” she said in a clip from The Benny Show. “This is just gonna boost him. We’ve seen it in the polls. I mean, it’s not a question, it’s a fact. We’ve seen his polls go up.”

TMZ also reported that similar to how 2Pac’s stint in prison boosted his record sales, Trump’s legal issues will grow his poll numbers.

2Pac’s sister set the record straight, saying that his popularity didn’t spike due to his incarceration but because his fans “were able to measure him by his words and actions that aligned,” and that he held himself accountable when he went to trial for sexual abuse in 1994. As for Trump, Shakur doesn’t see the 76-year-old taking responsibility for himself.

Shakur called her brother an honorable man who looked out for others and believes Trump’s team is using the rapper’s name to appeal to his fans.

On Tuesday, Trump was arrested before pleading not guilty to 34 counts of falsifying business records and conspiracy regarding the alleged role he played in a hush money payment scheme aimed at silencing Stormy Daniels.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Resurfaced Video of Yung Joc’s Detailed 2Pac Haircut Goes Viral Again

SOURCE

2pac

barber

dfp-music

dfp-music-other

Featured

hair

haircuts

juice

Music

News

nostalgia

tier-one

tribute

tupac-shakur

viral

yung-joc

Yung Joc is making headlines once again for his hair. The elaborate portrait of the late rapper even incorporated Joc’s own hair for the afro that Bishop sported in the film, as well an earring and 2Pac’s nose ring.

Back in December, Joc shaved his head following a bet he made that Tory Lanez wouldn’t be found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion. When Lanez was found guilty, Joc shaved his head while his Morning Takeover co-hosts Shyneka and Shawty Shawty were present, with Shyneka saying, “This is for Meg Thee Stallion.”

Joc made the bets with his co-hosts, later telling VladTV, “I told Shyneka if Tory [is] innocent, she gotta come to work with the braids that be under the weave. Either way, this is a very unfortunate situation. Just through the eyes of watching it, I don’t ever want anyone to feel like I’m making fun of their situation, ’cause it’s very unfortunate and it’s very bad for our culture, but I pray that this plays out fair.”

Source link

قالب وردپرس

ASAP Rocky Previews New Music Including Tribute to Fallen Rappers

SOURCE

2pac

albums

amazon-music

asap-rocky

dfp-music

dfp-music-hiphop

dfp-music-other

dmx

dont-be-dumb

Featured

live-performances

Music

new-albums

new-music

News

tier-one

ASAP Rocky’s long-teased new album is finally on the horizon. Notably, in a quick clip shared during football-focused proceedings ahead of the livestream, Rocky confirmed to the camera that the record is “finished.” Furthermore, he seemingly pointed to the title of the new album, which—despite what was at one point widely speculated—is indeed not called All Smiles.

“Thursday Night Football. Amazon. My first time back on the stage. Album finished. Don’t Be Dumb. Let’s go,” Rocky said, as seen in the clip above.

Don’t Be Dumb also made a number of appearances during the performance itself, as did the teasing of new music, including a track that Rocky dedicated to “everybody we lost in hip-hop throughout the years.” Addressing the crowd before performing the track in question, Rocky elaborated on what the song means to him.

“You gotta know that we the highest statistic of losing people,” Rocky said. “No other genre loses rockstars, pop singers, and country artists. Hip-hoppers, we get killed and shot every day. Overdoses, all types of unfortunate events. So this song is dedicated to everybody we lost and anybody who ever lost somebody.”

The screen at the performance further drove home the song’s message by projecting images of Takeoff, DMX, Drakeo the Ruler, Juice WRLD, King Von, Lil Keed, the Notorious B.I.G., PNB Rock, Trouble, XXXTentacion, Slim 400, ASAP Yams, Fredo Santana, Bankroll Fresh, 2Pac, Pop Smoke, Young Dolph, Nipsey Hussle, Mac Miller, MF Doom, Ricky Black, and Adrian Duke Mayers.

Other not-yet-officially-released songs were also teased during the event, including the tentatively titled “Roddy Rowdy Piper” and “Mushroom Clouds.”

A release date for Don’t Be Dumb has not been announced. In a recent conversation with Jessica McKinney for Complex, however, Rocky confirmed that fans will not “have to wait long” for the release, joking that it’s coming “ASAP, no pun intended.”

Source link

قالب وردپرس

How To Rock the FILA Grant Hill 2 Low Like 2pac Shakur

SOURCE

2pac

884605filatupacbceditorial

brnd

dfp-sneakers

dfp-sneakers-other

Featured

features

fila

fila-grant-hill-2

Music

News

prm

tupac-shakur

The cultural resurgence of all things ‘90s has manifested in everything from a revival of vintage technology, like cassette tapes, to the bucket hat’s stranglehold on summer looks. It also means ‘90s basketball silhouettes are white-hot right now.

The FILA Grant Hill 2 debuted in the center of that era: Grant Hill wasted no time in lighting up the league as a basketball star and releasing a signature model with FILA. The brand debuted the Grant Hill 2 in 1996. Hill personally seeded a pair to 2Pac Shakur, and Pac wore them on a shoot for the All Eyez On Me album, donning an iconic all-denim and Grant Hill 2 fit that would be immortalized in a photo in the album’s liner notes.

FILA teamed up with the Shakur Estate on a collection inspired by 2Pac’s legendary fashion sense (and yes, there are some sick bucket hats). The anchors of the capsule are two low-top colorways of the Grant Hill 2 Low—a versatile silhouette with potential to be the cherry on top of countless types of fits. Still, fashion can be complicated, so we’ve compiled a comprehensive guide on the best ways to wear the shoe.

Athleisure Always Works

Image via FILA

At risk of sounding obvious: running track pants and a hoodie with basketball shoes is a classic pairing. It’s a comfortable outfit that you can throw on to walk the dog in the morning, or to convey a laid-back cool while out on the town.

Let Them Shine By Wearing Shorts

<img decoding="async" class="article__rte-img" src="//www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 135 76"%3E%3C/svg%3E" alt="Fila Grant Hill 2 Low" loading="lazy" height="480" width="640" />

Image via FILA

A shoe as nice as this deserves some attention. Put the spotlight on your feet by getting distractions out of the way. The inseam length is up to you and your personal style—short shorts to over-knee baggy jorts work here. Shorts also give you the opportunity to either complement or contrast with socks, and allow the subtle bandana print lining on the shoe to peek out and to be noticed.

Camo works with everything

<img decoding="async" class="article__rte-img" src="//www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 135 76"%3E%3C/svg%3E" alt="Fila Grant Hill 2 Low" loading="lazy" height="480" width="640" />

Image via FILA

If you’re not in on the secret, camouflage is actually simple to style when you add some solid colors to balance things out. Fatigue-style pants can work with anything from a classic tee to sports jerseys, and really bring the nineties aesthetic up a notch.

All White Everything

<img decoding="async" class="article__rte-img" src="//www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 135 76"%3E%3C/svg%3E" alt="Fila Grant Hill 2 Low" loading="lazy" height="480" width="640" />

Image via FILA

For a modern look, go monochromatic. The Grant Hill 2 Low’s clean aesthetic can either meld into a single-colored ensemble, or provide some contrast. The key here is to include some colored accents, either through accessories or details, and the iconic Grant Hill logo on the side of the shoe does heavy lifting here.

You Can Never Go Wrong With A Tracksuit

<img decoding="async" class="article__rte-img" src="//www.w3.org/2000/svg" viewBox="0 0 135 76"%3E%3C/svg%3E" alt="Fila Grant Hill 2 Low" loading="lazy" height="480" width="640" />

Image via FILA

For some, tracksuits are the final frontier of fashion: something only admired from afar. They’re actually easy to wear: all you need to consider are socks, what you’ve got on underneath the jacket, and the footwear. The cut on this suit is particularly flattering, and the cuffed ankle showcases the custom 2Pac cross on the tongue.

To learn more about the FILA x 2PAC Collection, head to Fila.com

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Warren G Denied 2Pac Collaboration Due to Previous Incident With Suge Knigh

SOURCE

2pac

death-row

death-row-records

dfp-music

dfp-music-other

Featured

mike-tyson

Music

News

snoop-dogg

suge-knight

tier-one

tupac-shakur

videos

warren-g

Despite having a close relationship with both Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, Warren G and 2Pac never joined forces on wax after the latter signed with Death Row Records in 1995. Melber played a brief montage of 2Pac clips where he detailed the ways he and his community were tired of asking to be treated better.

“We was asking with the Panthers; we was asking with the Civil Rights Movement,” ’Pac said. “We was asking. Now those people that were asking, they’re all dead and in jail, so now what do you think we’re gonna do? Ask?”

“Fuck no,” Snoop immediately responded on the show. “Now you get it. Even watching that, my spirit is bubbling right now. Like I feel like fuckin’ somebody up from just hearing that, just because I know it puts me in that era, that zone when our voice didn’t matter back then. Things we were speaking to as far as corruption and violence and all that, they would take it and reverse it back on us as if, ‘No, you got a problem. You’re violent.’

“No. America’s violent,” the 50-year-old continued. “We was peaceful. The Black Panthers was put together to bear arms and do all this peaceful stuff. Y’all came and shot them down and knocked them down, and now we don’t have a voice. And now when we try to speak as rappers, you wanna lock us up and say our music is making people kill each other and this and that, and then we can’t bear arms.” The comment seems to be a nod to rappers being prosecuted over their lyrics, most recently Young Thug and Gunna.

The Doggfather went on, “All the stuff he was speaking to is happening right now, but this was 25 years ago. If we don’t stand up and make a difference and make a chance, it won’t change. That’s why we do what we do and we movin’ like we movin’ right now.”

Watch Snoop react to 2Pac’s words up top, and see the full Mavericks with Ari Melber episode below.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Will.i.am on Why 2Pac & Biggie’s ‘Kind of Music Doesn’t Speak to My Spirit’

SOURCE

2pac

a-tribe-called-quest

biggie

black-eyed-peas

de-la-soul

dfp-music

dfp-music-other

Featured

Music

News

the-notorious-big

tier-one

tupac-shakur

will-i-am

Will.i.am isn’t shying away from sharing his true feelings about a pair of hip-hop legends. I like Boogie Down Productions, KRS-One, I like—if it’s like, 2Pac or Biggie? It’s KRS-One. Why those two?”

Will.i.am said he doesn’t “hold them up like that.” He continued, “I hold Eric B. and Rakim like that. 2Pac’s dope—don’t get me wrong. It’s not like I don’t think he’s dope. It spoke to the projects. My escape is De La/Tribe out the projects.”

He maintained that while 2Pac “spoke to the projects,” De La Soul and A Tribe Called Quest were the two hip-hop acts that gave him the truest escapism and inspiration.

“It took me out the projects physically, as far as being able to reach my dreams, that was my path out. … It kept me safe while I was in the projects,” he said. “Had I loved 2Pac and Biggie while I was in the projects, I probably would have been stuck in the projects still.”

Check out Will.i.am’s full take on Biggie and ’Pac up top.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Exclusive Clip: Wiz Khalifa on Why He’s Always Liked Biggie More Than 2Pac

SOURCE

2pac

90s-hip-hop

biggie

dfp-music

dfp-music-hiphop

dj-whoo-kid

exclusive

favorites

Featured

icons

Music

News

notorious-big

the-notorious-big

tier-one

videos

wiz-khalifa

In a new interview with DJ Whoo Kid, Wiz Khalifa explained why he’s always preferred the Notorious B.I.G. over 2Pac. Biggie,” the 34-year-old responded at the 5:00 point of the interview. “Yeah, I like Biggie ’cause lyrically like, you can still listen to Biggie’s today and be like, ‘Wow, he really said that?’ Like he talks about clothes, and like brands, in a crazy way. Talks about cars in a crazy way, talks about women, he’s just really poetic, you know what I’m saying?”

Khalifa made sure to stress this doesn’t mean he thinks either rapper is actually better than the other, but stating his preference. “I just love how complex his bars are,” he continued. “Pac is raw. Pac is crazy, he’s hard. His beat selection was wild, his work ethic was crazy. You know, just his attitude and you know, everything like that. But I’m more on the Biggie side for sure.”

Wiz laughed when Whoo Kid pointed out it’s being brought up because Wiz moved from the East Coast to the West, currently working and living out of California.

This isn’t the first time Wiz Khalifa has expressed his preference for Biggie, as he made similar comments during a Vanity Fair lie detector test back in 2018. “Feel like Pac’s flipping me off for saying that,” he joked at the time. “Biggie was a better lyricist. Pac was, like, real life. … Biggie, he could create a story, and I respect the lyricism of Biggie for sure.”

Watch the exclusive clip above.

Source link

قالب وردپرس
