But there’s a line in question that’s caught the attention of listeners.

At the 1:22 mark of the freestyle, Machine Gun Kelly made a reference to Jackman, which happens to be the title of Jack Harlow’s latest album released last month. MGK wasted no time flipping the name and using it to allegedly diss his peer. “I see why they call you Jackman/You jacked man’s whole swag, give Drake his flow back, man/I eat rappers like Pac Man/Must I regurgitate and show you who’s in my stomach from the last dance,” MGK rapped.

The verse comes after Jack Harlow made a bold claim that he’s “the hardest white boy” since Eminem on “They Don’t Love It” off Jackman. The statement caused a stir on social media, and it seems Machine Gun Kelly had something to say about it.

This isn’t the first time MGK took aim at a fellow white rapper. In 2018, he and Eminem were engaged in an entertaining beef that saw Kelly call out the Detroit legend for being washed up and irrelevant to this current generation of hip-hop listeners.

With this latest freestyle, Machine Gun Kelly has been exploring a return to the rap scene. The 33-year-old released his fifth studio album, Tickets to My Downfall, in 2020, which was a complete departure from his hip-hop roots and focused solely on the pop-rock wave.

His first re-entry back into the rap space happened when he released a freestyle last week with Cordae over the instrumental to Central Cee’s viral hit “Doja.” “How can I be homosapien, I’m high as the alien/Both of my lungs are in training/I’m burning pounds not inside of a gymnasium/This off the cranium/This a nuclear weapon my bars are Uranium,” MGK rapped.

If that weren’t enough, MGK announced last month in an interview with Audacy Check In’s Kevan Kenney that his next album will focus more on rap. According to Kelly, he wants to move away from the pop-rock sound so people can “miss it.”

“I’m going to make a rap album for myself,” MGK said. “For no other reason, no point to prove, no chip on my shoulder. If I keep doing things to prove things to people, I’m going to one, drive myself crazy and two, not make a good product.”

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Lil Wayne Releases Career-Spanning ‘I Am Music’ Compilation

SOURCE

albums

compilation

dfp-music

dfp-music-hiphop

dfp-music-other

dfp-music-rock

dmx

drake

eminem

Featured

jay-z

kendrick-lamar

lil-wayne

Music

News

songs

swizz-beatz

tier-one

travis-barker

young-money

Lil Wayne celebrates his decades of hits on the new I Am Music compilation, out Friday. He’s not been shy about sharing his appreciation for Em in the past, though, as he paid tribute to Eminem’s outfit in D12’s “My Band” video with his “Ay Caramba” video last year. The clip for that track came under fire for cultural appropriation, and in response, he apologized to the Mexican-American community and eventually removed it from YouTube.

The tweet from him crowning Em and Wayne the two greatest rappers of all time comes just over a month after Billboard’s list of Greatest Rappers of All Time sparked debate. He said he had been planning to propose since last summer, but it wasn’t until Feb. 4 that he asked Mathers for her hand in marriage.

McClintock looked forward to talking to her father about the proposal. Since Mathers’ birthday is on Christmas, McClintock thought it was the perfect time to speak to the icon.

“Over the holidays, I was looking for an opportunity not to make it too obvious. I saw your dad go downstairs, and I’m like, ‘I gotta do it right now, or I’m not doing it today, and I’m gonna have to schedule another time,” McClintock said.

He followed Eminem downstairs as he was getting the birthday cake and said, “I made it happen.”

McClintock found the engagement ring just one day after talking to Em. Mathers’ family was in on the engagement as her older sister, Alaina Scott Mathers, 29, helped McClintock find the ring. “It’s funny, so your sister really helped me out, and she basically told me what for sure not to get,” he said.

Mathers took to her Instagram to announce the exciting news. He certainly didn’t sound like a Black rapper, especially because of what he was saying. I guess it was my ignorance at the time, thinking that if you’re a really good rapper, you must be Black.”

Following Dre’s induction speech, Eminem delivered a medley of hits, including classic songs like “My Name Is,” “Forever,” and “Not Afraid.”

“So I’m probably not supposed to actually be here tonight because of a couple of reasons. One of them that I’m a rapper, and this is the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” Eminem said after his performance. “And there’s only a few of us right now that have been inducted in already, but there’s only a few of us.”

“Secondly, I almost died from an overdose in 2007, which kind of sucked,” he continued. “Hailie, plug your ears: because drugs were fucking delicious, and I thought we had a good thing going man, but I had to go and fuck it all up and take too many. God damn. OK Hailie.”

Eminem went on to credit dozens of hip-hop artists for influencing him at the outset of his career. “I put this list together yesterday,” he shared, before running through the names that included 2 Live Crew, De La Soul, Public Enemy, 2Pac, the Notorious B.I.G., and Ice Cube, among many others.

“I know this induction is supposed to be me talking about myself and shit man, but fuck that,” he concluded. “I would not be here without them. I’m a high school dropout man, with a hip-hop education, and these were my teachers. And it’s their night just as much as it is mine. So thank you.”

You can watch the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony on HBO on Nov. 19.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Cole Bennett on Mike Tyson Offering Him Shrooms During Eminem Shoot

SOURCE

cole-bennett

dfp-food

dfp-food-other

dfp-music

dfp-music-hiphop

dfp-music-other

drdre

eminem

Featured

hot-ones

hot-ones-show

hot-sauce

lyrical-lemonade

mike-tyson

Music

music-videos

News

sean-evans

tier-one

videos

Cole Bennett is the latest creative voice to be tasked with facing off against hot questions, and even hotter wings, on Hot Ones with host Sean Evans. Deep into the new Hot Ones, Bennett reflected on his directorial videography, including the competing bucket list moments that presented themselves on the set of the 2020 video for Eminem’s “Godzilla” track featuring the late Juice WRLD.

“This video was like no other,” Bennett said around the 8:25 mark in the video above. “It was one of those things. Like, growing up being a fan of hip-hop music, music videos, and just pop culture. I mean, I remember Eminem as being the biggest thing in the world so to get to work with him so closely and feel that energy and feel him be so ready to just log in all these hours and be so receptive to my ideas and my vision for things to, you know, a song that he had created was really, really cool.”

The video, which ultimately bagged a Video of the Year nomination at the VMAs, features cameos from Dr. Dre and Mike Tyson. According to Bennett, Tyson was kind enough to offer him shrooms during the shoot.

“Mike Tyson was off shrooms,” Bennett said. “He offered me some shrooms which, you know, was a bucket list moment for sure. But, you know, being on set and leading this vision was also a bucket list moment so I had to pick my poison there. Didn’t do the shrooms.”

Elsewhere, Bennett provided some hot sauce-complicated insight on being invited to Diddy’s house for dinner and the importance comfort plays in his personal style. He also detailed why he considers the music video art form to be a “super important” facet of the artist-and-fan connection, particularly a video’s ability to put artists’ “character and personality” on display while challenging them to inhabit a new world.

See the full Hot Ones episode up top.

And below, see the recently unveiled alternate video for blink-182’s aforementioned classic lineup reunion track “Edging,” featuring a cameo from Bennett himself.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Bizarre on Eminem’s Perfectionism & Spending ‘6 Hours Doing One Verse Over’

SOURCE

bizarre

collaborations

d12

detroit

dfp-music

dfp-music-hiphop

eminem

Featured

Music

News

nostalgia

studio

tier-one

videos

work

Eminem may be one of the hardest-working rappers in the game. But as far as it being personal, it’s not personal.”

As the song makes clear with its many references to Em’s discography, from his acclaimed material to his more divisive later output, Game stressed he came up on Em’s music too. “I remember the first time that ‘My Name Is’ came out. I was, like, ‘whoa’-ed by it. I felt the same feeling when I heard that, that I felt when I heard ‘Juicy’ from B.I.G. the first time. … I always fucked with Em,” he said.

The Game continued, “I think me and 50’s fallout made him choose a side and he wasn’t doing the shit that I did. He was like, ‘I’m going with 50. Fuck you n***as.’ But I just felt like I had some emotions, a little bit, about Super Bowl shit and all of that. And that’s Dre’s boy, and Dre don’t rap.
