And—although some of these verses and songs host that energy, if you still want to stay at home, put on a pair of headphones, and dissect bars, don’t worry; this year gifted us a lot of great rap verses, too. From introspective efforts like Kendrick Lamar’s “Mother I Sober” and Che Noir’s “Communion” to more playful offerings like Tyler, the Creator’s verse on Pharell’s “Cash In, Cash Out,” there’s been a little something for everyone this year.

After counting down the 50 best albums and songs of the year, we narrowed our focus on the top 30 rap verses of the year. These are the verses that we’ve returned to over and over since we first heard them. To make room for more voices and styles, we limited ourselves to just one verse per artist. Without further ado, these are the 30 best rap verses of 2022.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Jay-Z Shares Extensive Playlist Featuring Favorite Songs of 2022

SOURCE

21-savage

bad-bunny

beyonce

dfp-music

dfp-music-hiphop

dfp-music-pop

drake

Featured

future

her-loss

jay-z

kendrick-lamar

metro-boomin

mr-morale-and-the-big-steppers

Music

News

playlist

sos

sza

tidal

vince-staples

year-end

Jay-Z released his year-end playlist for Tidal, featuring 40 songs from artists such as Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and, of course, Beyoncé. add?”

Obama’s playlist featured a wide range of artists, from legendary acts like the Spinners (“Mighty Love”), Prince (“Let’s Go Crazy”), Aretha Franklin (“Save Me”), and Al Green (“I Can’t Get Next to You”) to current A-listers such as Beyoncé (“Break My Soul”), Drake (“Too Good” featuring Rihanna), Kendrick Lamar (“Die Hard”), and Harry Styles (“Music For A Sushi Restaurant”).
The traditional methods—radio, magazines, billboards, record stores, word of mouth—are still here, and they’ve been joined by new innovations like TikTok and playlists. Meanwhile, technology has also made it easier to make and distribute music than ever, and over 60,000 songs are uploaded to Spotify every day. With a laugh, he explained to Speedy Morman that only his loved ones (and court) know where he even lives. “Why would [anyone else] know where I live at?” he incredulously asked.

His revelation could be nothing more than a character quirk, but it was a timely turn of conversation in the aftermath of his latest release, Ramona Park Broke My Heart. The sanctity of home is especially vital for Vince Staples, the Long Beach scribe whose candid lyrics depict the weariness of his hometown. His catalog makes the trenches of sunny Southern California feel dreary. Rhymes like “your first rap can be a murder rap” on Ramona Park opener “The Beach” cast a cloud over his surroundings, making one ponder how our perspectives are shaped by home not feeling like a sanctuary.

Hip-Hop is obsessed with home. The first thing most people want to know about an act is where they’re from, because, even in 2022, their upbringing is a strong indication of their accent, slang, their production choices, and their content. The internet has birthed international SoundCloud and Discord communities full of artists who transcend region, but there are still MCs who flout their native cities’ flag without even trying. As a New York-based writer, I can tell Brooklyn drill from Bronx drill. On Ramona Park standout “East Point Prayer,” we hear the difference between Lil Baby’s Atlanta twang and Vince Staples’ hardened SoCal accent.

Our communities mold us, but as Vince Staples laments, it’s not always for the best. The album intro, “The Beach,” starts out with the serene sounds of a calm day at the beach, but the silence is splintered by Vince rhyming about being an “everybody killer.” In other words, anybody can get it. The song ends with gunshots and screams. The juxtaposition is jarring. Transplants may visit LA to take in the lush atmosphere and expansive beaches, but for too many LA natives it’s “live by the gun, die by the sand,” like Vince rhymed on “Bang That.”

The project’s soundscape carries a similar yin-yang dynamic, with a sunny, smooth soundscape ripe for cruising through LA and taking in the surroundings, juxtaposed with grim lyrics that remind how harrowing the wrong turn can be. The LeKen Taylor-produced “Free The Homies” is a balmy, synth-driven track that begins with a woman bemoaning how grief has angered her community, then takes us into the mindset of a gang member acting on vengeance. “In too deep, I ain’t with the peace/ Wanna end the beef? Tell them niggas, ‘Bring my homies back,’” Vince rhymes. It’s a simple premise that’s been said many times over in rap, tv, and movies, but it seems to cut with the same pathos each time we hear it.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Vince Staples Releases New Album ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart’

SOURCE

dfp-music

dfp-music-hiphop

Featured

lil-baby

Music

mustard

new-albums

News

tier-one

ty-dolla-sign

vince-staples

Long Beach rapper Vince Staples has shared his new album, Ramona Park Broke My Heart. The 16-track outing comes after Staples penned a thoughtful message on the project following his cover art reveal last month.

“I am often told the lie that life is what you make it,” he wrote. “For over a decade, most of my work has been an anthology of what I believed to be home. Now I’ve realized that it reaches beyond location.”

He continued, “I have been exploring the utility of home. Security. Comfort. Meaning. The answer. The excuse. To outgrow is to love blindly no longer. ‘Ramona Park Broke My Heart’ is the story of that growth.”

He added that “there’s a direct correlation” between his previous self-titled effort and this album.

“They were kind of created at the same time,” Staples revealed. “I was in a similar state of mind. I’m still working through things and the questions that life poses. This album will make even more sense if you heard the previous one.”

Staples previously dropped two singles to tease the project. The 28-year-old lyricist first shared “Magic” on Valentine’s Day. “I think it’ll put the listener in a good state of mind,” he explained. “The mood of it defines the project.”

He then followed it up with another single titled “Rose Street,” and claimed he was inspired by Will Smith’s Oscar’s slap to drop the music video.

Staples is currently wrapping up his supporting run on Tyler, the Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost Tour.

Listen to Ramona Park Broke My Heart below.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Watch Tyler, the Creator’s Call Me If You Get Lost Live Concert

SOURCE

amazon-music

amazon-prime

dfp-music

dfp-music-hiphop

Featured

kali-uchis

livestream

Music

News

teezo-touchdown

tier-one

tyler-the-creator

vince-staples

As Tyler, the Creator begins to wrap up his massive North American Call Me If You Get Lost Tour, the celebrated rapper is bringing his theatrical performance back to the familiar stomping grounds of Los Angeles with a special concert livestream from Crypto.com Arena for fans to enjoy.
