Robert Bourgeau, who was nominated by his command last month for the Soldier’s Medal, which is given to someone who displays an act of heroism outside of combat. Bourgeau was at Mermaid’s Grotto in Onno on July 4 when he saw a woman calling for help because her 11-year-old daughter and a U.S. soldier were caught in a riptide about 100 yards from shore.

Bourgeau, a scuba diving instructor, leapt into the water and attempted to save the girl. While working to bring her back to the shallows, he encountered her mother and rescued her as well. As Bourgeau was struggling to save these two women, he was completely unaware that Takahashi also jumped in and tried to help, according to several sworn witness statements provided by the Army.

Bourgeau tried to go back in to rescue the soldier, who was stuck in a whirlpool, after returning the women to safety, but was exhausted. He was forced to use his remaining energy to save himself. “That was one the hardest things I have ever had to do, I let [the man] go so I could save myself,” he wrote in his witness statement.

Bourgeau was able to guide the soldier out of the whirlpool and return to the shore.

Kazuki Takahashi’s body was recovered two days later floating off the coast of Nago.

“He’s a hero,” Bourgeau said of Takahashi. “He died trying to save someone else.”

Source link

قالب وردپرس

‘Yu-Gi-Oh!’ Creator Kazuki Takahashi Found Dead at 60

SOURCE

comic-books

dfp-entertainment

dfp-entertainment-other

Featured

japanese

Music

News

rip

tier-one

trading-cards

yu-gi-oh

Kazuki Takahashi, creator of the popular Yu-Gi-Oh! franchise, was found dead in the waters off the coast of Okinawa in Japan on Wednesday. He was 60.

The New York Times reports Takahashi’s body was discovered at 11:27 a.m. Wednesday floating off the coast of Nago in Okinawa Prefecture. Takahashi was wearing snorkeling gear when he was found, with a Coast Guard spokesperson telling NBC News that there were “damages to his body which looked like they were caused by some sort of marine animal.”

Local police also discovered an abandoned rental car at a nearby beach. After determining the vehicle was rented by Takahashi, officials contacted his family, who subsequently identified his body.

The Coast Guard confirmed it is investigating the cause of Takahashi’s death.

After starting his career as a comic book artist in the 1980s, Takahashi in 1996 created Yu-Gi-Oh!, which was initially published in the popular manga comic magazine Weekly Shonen Jump. In 1999, Yu-Gi-Oh! was spun off as a collective trading card game in which players face off against each other. From there, the franchise inspired various other spin-off series, TV shows, movies, and video games.

As of 2021, over 35 billion Yu-Gi-Oh! cards have been sold around the world, making it a nearly $10 billion dollar-grossing industry, with the Guinness World Records recognizing it as the world’s best-selling trading card game.

Source link

قالب وردپرس

Man Arrested for Climbing Down Roof to Steal Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! The crime occurred around 5 a.m. this past Tuesday, March 23. Nakanishi is suspected of stealing around 80 cards, with a combined worth of around 1 million yen ($9,120). On top of this it’s also believed he took about 260,000 yen ($2,370) cash from an office in the store.

Nakanishi has reportedly admitted he’s responsible, and says that he committed the transgression to “pay off a debt.”

Police say that Nakanishi fastened a rope to a railing atop the building, then climbed down about 16 feet before using a tool to bust through a store window. At the time he wasn’t wearing a lifeline. He was foiled by surveillance footage from cameras near the store that pointed the authorities in his direction.

After his arrest he reportedly told police, “I was in the rock climbing club in high school, so I wasn’t afraid of heights.”

Source link

قالب وردپرس
