Chance the Rapper Reveals Release Date and Cover Art for Debut Album ‘The Big Day’

Written by on July 17, 2019

July is a big month for Chance the Rapper

Not only is he in the Disney remake of The Lion King, which will hit U.S. theaters this weekend, Chano is also expected to drop his long-awaited debut album. The Chicago rapper announced the latter project back in February, but has remained pretty tight-lipped about the details. But that all changed Tuesday night, when he appeared on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

During his sit-down with Jimmy, Chance confirmed the title of his debut project as well as its release date and cover art. Chano previously announced the effort would arrive before the end of July, but half way through the month, fans were still waiting on an exact date.

Chance told Jimmy his album, The Big Day, would arrive on July 26th. Head here to pre-order the project.

Let the countdown begin.

The Big Day is the follow-up to Chance’s 2016 mixtape Coloring Book. The album will include the previously released single “GRoCERIES” with Houston rapper TisaKorean, as well as tracks inspired by his wedding day.

“The whole album has been inspired by the day that I got married and how I was dancing that day,” he said in an interview with Zane Lowe. “[…] It was the hardest I ever danced in my life and I’m a great longtime dancer. Everything in it is all the different styles of music that make me want to dance and remind me of that day and remind me of that night and all those people that were there.”

He continued: “I’ve been waiting to make an album for a long time. So, the process has been just me being back in the studio all the time. Just making two songs a day. And trying to have fun. But at the same time, I understand that it’s going to be more. More songs. More flexes. More dancing. Just more.”
