Charli XCX Drops ‘Charli’ Album f/ Lizzo, HAIM, Troye Sivan, and More

Written by on September 13, 2019

After a five-year wait, Charli XCX’s third studio album is finally here.

The self-titled project, which was confirmed back in June, delivers 15 songs and is stacked with guest appearances. There’s Lizzo, Troye Sivan, HAIM, CupcakKe, and Sky Ferreira, just to name a few.

The singer-songwriter has called Charli her “most personal” album yet, admitting she was slightly guarded when it came to her previous albums: True Romance (2013) and Sucker (2014).

“In the past I think I’ve always managed to be just personal enough without giving anything away,” she said in an interview. “My stories have never been totally fabricated but they have been more about general emotions or feelings which many people go through and can relate to. This album gets specific, from in depth thoughts on my insecurities and loneliness … In particular, I would describe the album as cathartic; it’s almost like therapy in some ways … I confess and I feel better I suppose.”

Charli includes the singles “1999,” “Blame It on Love,” “Cross You Out,” “Gone,” “Warm,” and “2009.”

Listen to the album now on Apple Music or via Spotify below.
