Chika Suggests She Planned to End Life by Suicide, Fans Show Support

Written by on March 27, 2022

Chika posted a concerning message on Saturday, writing that she planned to take her own life.

The rapper appeared to write the message after going to the roof of the InterContinental Hotel in St. Paul, Minnesota.

“I went to the top of the intercontinental, but could not jump. Not because I don’t want to, but because the metal stairs were scary,” she wrote. “That’s the thing about having a fucked up brain. No matter how much pain you’re in, there will always be something holding you back. It’s draining & sad. It looks like crying wolf, but it’s not. It’s just difficult to find the right way. The quickest way. the painless way. I am tired of myself too.”

Chika wrote that she was going to find an alternative way to end her life. “I don’t need anyone feeling bad or worried bc I failed the last time I tried. save your emotions for when I succeed,” she wrote. Chika equated her possible suicide to “eternal freedom.” She added, “No more typing. I’m going to finish my drink and find a way that works. Thanks for the ride, I hated it.”

Her note prompted some of her fans to call a local crisis hotline. “I called Madison, Wisconsin Crisis Hotline and they said they are aware and taking care of it. I don’t know much more! :///,” Twitter user @trannyredacted wrote.

Another twitter user, @bachelorhaters followed up, writing, “Just called and they said they’ve been in contact with her and she’s fine as of now. Praying for her and hope she fights through this.”

According to HipHopDX, Chika also shared some worrying thoughts to her IG Story on Friday, writing, “I’m not making it home.” She continued, “Find my body in St. Paul IGAF,” and, “Madison, actually. Hope ur happy.”

The Alabama native has struggled with her mental health for some time. Last April, she announced that she was retiring from music due to the “mental toll” of the industry. However, later that month, she said she will no longer be retiring—and thanked Cardi B for “showing such kindness to me.”

“I am alive. I am okay,” Chika wrote on Twitter. “Thank you to everyone who has reached out to check-in. It’s been a very intense week. I’m not retiring. After what I’ve endured in the past few days, I’m not ever allowing anything to stop me or almost take me from this ghetto ass earth.”
