Chicago Cubs outfielder Albert Almora Jr. hit a foul ball during the the fourth inning in a game against the Houston Astros at Minute Maid Park. The ball end up hitting a four-year-old child, according to the New York Daily NewsHouston radio station SportsTalk790 reports that the child is “awake, responsive and taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons. The child is expected to be ok. Thank goodness.”

“He rips a line drive down the third-base line and it comes in and it looks like it hits someone hard,” David LeVasseur, a fan who was in attendance for Wednesday night’s game, said, per the Houston Chronicle. “It bounces, comes down and hits the guy to my left off ricochet and the next thing you know it’s at my feet. I pick it up and all we heard was screaming. ” The Chronicle reports that “[t]he baseball had no traces of blood and, according to LeVasseur, there was none near the seat.”

“All we heard was screaming,” LeVasseur continued. “We saw this dad pick up a child and run up the stairs. He took off running.”

The game was halted following the incident but later resumed.
