Chuck E. Cheese’s Refutes Theory That It Sells Leftover Pizza

Written by on February 14, 2019

Chuck E. Cheese’s is at the center of another pizza-related conspiracy theory

On Monday, famed YouTuber Shane Dawson released a video in which he “investigated” a bizarre, but longstanding, rumor about Chuck E. Cheese’s signature fare. The theory is that the family entertainment center collects uneaten slices of pizza, rearranges them to form a new pie, and then serves them to unsuspecting customers. A representative for the company has denied the allegations and attempted to explain their often misshaped pizzas.

“The claims made in this video about Chuck E. Cheese’s and our pizza are unequivocally false,” a spokesperson said in a statement, per Huffington Post. “No conspiracies here―our pizzas are made to order and we prepare our dough fresh in restaurant, which means that they’re not always perfectly uniform in shape, but always delicious.”

Dawson’s video, which has garnered about 15 million views and 1.2 million “likes,” follows the YouTuber and his friend examining the pizzas from various Chuck E. Cheese’s locations. They point out that the cuts in the pies do not line up, and the slices do not form a perfect circle.

“It never lines up,” Dawson said in the video. “If you pushed this pizza together, there’s no fucking way that’s a circle. It almost looks like they glued it together.”

A number of Redditors have attempted to explain the odd-looking pies by sharing details of the franchise’s cooking process.

“All the slices are from the same pizza, it’s just when the pizza comes out of the oven, they place it on a cutting board in order to slice it,” a user, who claimed to be a Chuck E. Cheese’s employee, wrote. “The slicer is very large and kind of heavy, so some ppl have a lot of difficulty trying to cut the pizza perfectly. [That’s] why some slices are different sizes [than] others […] I’ve never seen them try to mush different pizza parts together into a full pizza before. However, I can only speak for my store, so there might be a ratchet Chuckee Cheese out there that might try to pull this, but I don’t think anyone would be able to keep on pulling something like that for years without getting caught/getting too many complaints.”

You can watch Dawson’s Chuck E. Cheese’s investigation above. The video also addresses two other topics: voice mimicking computer software, and his friend’s mysterious disappearance from social media.
