Coi Leray Shares Support for Eminem After Benzino Criticizes Detroit MC

Written by on May 6, 2022

Coi Leray has made her feelings toward Eminem quite clear.

On Thursday afternoon, the Trendsetter rapper hit up Twitter to express her full support for Eminem, who was recently inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.

“I’m about love, equality, respect and forgiveness,” she began. “I have nothing against Eminem, 25 years of my life all I know is he a very talented artist and actor ! (8 Mile was great). Let’s build bridges and get over them before you burn the bridge and burn with it.”

Though Leray didn’t reveal what prompted the tweet, the post came just a day after her father, Benzino, slammed the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for inducting Em. Benzino didn’t take a direct shot at the Detroit MC, but said there were hundreds of Black artists who were more deserving of the honor.

“Rock and roll hall of fame is just like the Grammy’s, they have no respect for our culture, Black or Hip Hop and if you don’t agree, you’re racist, period point blank,” he wrote. “So where’s Nas, Eric B and RAKIM, Kool Moe D, Epmd, Fearless Four, Fat Boyz, Lauren Hill, Little Kim, OutKast and 100s other Black rappers?? GTFOH.”

Benzino and Em have had a tumultuous relationship over the past two decades. In 2002, the men began beefing over a review of The Eminem Show published in The Source, which Benzino previously co-owned. They drama would lead to several diss tracks and allegations of racism throughout the next 20 years. Fast-forward to March 2022, when Benzino announced he and Em had finally squashed their beef.

“To all Eminem fans & Stans all over the world, the beef is officially over,” he tweeted. “I’m letting y’all know I have no hate towards any of his fans & recognize his contributions to Hip Hop. He truly is apart of the culture & 1 of the best to rock the mic regardless of his color.”
