‘Community’ Cast Praises Donald Glover, Would Do Movie If Dan Harmon Writes Script

According to Vulture the cast of Community agreed to do a movie if it was written by creator and seasons 1-3 showrunner Dan Harmon.
A Vulture Festival panel made up of Community alum Joel McHale, Alison Brie, Gillian Jacobs, Danny Pudi, Jim Rash, Yvette Nicole Brown, Ken Jeong, Chris McKenna, and the aforementioned Harmon took the stage on Sunday to talk about the show, whose original six-season run stretched from 2009 to 2015.
The series’ half-joking rallying cry of “six seasons and a movie” was brought up without ambiguity, when moderator Jesse David Fox asked what would have to be done to get a Community movie made.
After Joel McHale joked that it’d take a “million dollars for Donald [Glover],” who was not in attendance, Harmon wondered aloud “Who’s supposed to say ‘everyone do this?” He then added “That’s what I’ve always said. How does it happen?”
After gentle prodding from Brie that it’d start with him, Harmon said that if he did it then half of the cast would probably say they’re out. But, again according to Vulture, the cast that was in attendance all publicly agreed to be attached to the project if Harmon actually puts together the script.
Admittedly that’s a lot of work, but their words are officially out there.
The cast also reminisced fondly about Glover, with Brie stating that one of the best things about him being in the cast was that they got to hear Childish Gambino songs before the rest of the planet did. McHale also joked that it would take “one million dollars” for Glover, for the film to get made. The love for Glover was real, with Brown calling him “the most talented person [she’d] ever met.”
Oh and also Chevy Chase got brought up, with far less fondness, as Harmon referred to him as a “self-described legend.” Sounds about right.
