Conor McGregor is being sued by the man who had his phone smashed, stomped, and stolen by the UFC fighter outside the Fontainebleau Miami Beach hotel, according to TMZ. Ahmed Abdirzak, 22, filed the suit in Miami-Dade County Thursday, accusing McGregor of assault, battery and intentional infliction of emotional distress.
Abdirzak’s account alleges that he wasn’t trying to provoke McGregor, but was simply trying to take a photo of him with his phone outside the hotel when he flipped out and applied had such a tight grip on his arm that the only thing he could do was relinquish his device. “[McGregor] then flew into a rage and punched [Abdirzak’s] smartphone out of his hand,” the suit states.
After grabbing the phone, McGregor smashed it to the ground, and “began stomping on the phone repeatedly.” That latter detail appears to be the part of the incident captured on camera, which was obtained by TMZ. Abdirzak claims that he went after McGregor to try and retrieve his phone, or whatever was left of it, but Conor laughed off his efforts, and yelled back, “F*ck you!”
McGregor was arrested Monday and charged with felony strong-armed robbery and misdemeanor criminal mischief. Abdirzak is seeking upwards of $15,000 in unspecified damages.
