Michael Irvin shared that he might have throat cancer in a somber post to his Instagram today.
The Dallas Cowboys legend said that he lost his voice last season after a Cowboys win and became concerned when the problem persisted for months. Irvin shared that he lost his father to throat cancer when the latter was only 51 and said that he had a biopsy performed to determine whether or not his problem stemmed from the same ailment.
Irvin also told his fans that he was scared and asked for prayers.
“This daemon has chased and vexed me deep in my spirit all my life. So saying I am afraid this time is a big big understatement. I AM TERRIFIED!!” he wrote. “My Faith tells me whenever you face great fear you go to your greatness power. Mine is God. I am asking all who will. Could you please send up a prayer to help my family and I deal with whatever the results may be?”
