“We are so saddened that Dak has lost his brother,” Jerry Jones, the team’s owner said in the statement.
“We want to help him get through this time. Whatever we can do to help him get through this tough time. When you’re young, and Dak is young, death is really hard to understand to think about or live with.”
Dak, Jace, and their other brother, Tad were very close. The three appeared in a Campbell’s Chunky Soup commercial together in 2019. Dak has suffered much loss recently; their mother, Peggy Prescott, passed away from colon cancer in 2013.
“My brothers have always been champions,” Dak said at the time, per TMZ. “Them along with my mom … So now, not having my mom and just having them two, they mean even more.”
Dak added, “Family is everything. It’s what keeps me grounded when everything else is changing around me I know that’s one thing that’s always consistent and certain. I’m thankful for them.”
Jace was a former football player himself, playing during his college years at Northwestern State in Louisiana where the brothers grew up. As an offensive lineman, Jace started 11 games during his last season in 2010.
