Daniel Craig and ‘SNL’ Parody ‘No Time to Die’ By Giving Fans a ‘Sneak Peek’

Written by on March 8, 2020

Daniel Craig returned to host Saturday Night Live for the second time this week. During the episode, Craig decided to toy with one of his most famous characters by giving fans a “sneak peek” at the new James Bond movie.

After delaying the film’s release date, fans have been anxious to see how No Time to Die will continue the James Bond legacy. SNL played with this anticipation by creating a parody scene from the movie that takes a comedic stab at a traditional Bond storyline. At the beginning of the sketch, Craig as Bond walks into a casino where he meets an employee for his adversary. Yet instead of Bond retrieving information from the woman, he seemingly forgets he’s a spy because he starts to get a hot hand at the craps table.

“I can’t believe my heart is beating so fast,” Bond said after a few rolls. He then bypasses his trademarked martini for a vodka and Redbull. Bond starts to take requests on which number he should roll. After rolling a four the hard way, he proclaimed himself Simba because he felt like “the king of the jungle.”

Eventually, the woman he was originally there to meet tells him all the information he wanted to know in an attempt to draw him away from the table. But this didn’t even stop his heat streak. Then when the worker manning the table (Mikey Day) turned out to be another agent for his enemy, Bond was able to kill him and still roll the snake-eyes that the spectators requested.

No Time to Die was originally set to release in April. However, the people behind the film decided to move the release date until November in hopes that the global box office will have stabilized itself by then. Currently, everything is in a frenzy due to growing concerns over the coronavirus.

“MGM, Universal and Bond producers, Michael G Wilson and Barbara Broccoli, announced today that after careful consideration and thorough evaluation of the global theatrical marketplace, the release of No Time to Die will be postponed until November 2020,” a statement given to Deadline reads. “The film will be released in the U.K. on Nov. 12, 2020 with worldwide release dates to follow, including the U.S. launch on Nov. 25, 2020.”
