Darren McFadden Charged With DUI, Resisting Arrest Over Whataburger Drive-Thru Incident

Darren McFadden has been charged in his drive-thru DWI case. The former NFL running back was hit with two misdemeanors that could mean as many as two years in prison.
According to TMZ, McFadden is facing charges of driving under the influence and resisting arrest. That jibes with the story that authorities shared after McFadden’s arrest in January. McFadden was allegedly found asleep at the wheel of his 2019 GMC Yukon in the drive-thru of a Dallas area Whataburger. Law enforcement sources who spoke to the celebrity news website said that McFadden resisted arrest after being woken up. While no one has shared an exact account of what happened, reports indicate that the windows of McFadden’s car were smashed in the struggle.
McFadden’s court date is scheduled for October.
While McFadden was a collegiate star, he’s had a rough go since turning pro. McFadden has been struggling with injuries throughout his time in the league. He moved on from the Oakland Raiders, the team who drafted him, to become a Dallas Cowboy. After the Cowboys found their running back in Ezekiel Elliot, McFadden decided to bow out in 2017. His post-NFL has been no less difficult; he filed a lawsuit against his financial adviser for failing to invest in Bitcoin when asked. McFadden stood to make $234 million if the transaction had gone through as planned, instead he had to sue the adviser for $15 million.
