In just over a week, ticket sales will launch for Dave Chappelle‘s Broadway debut.
Chappelle is giving fans the chance to see him on one or all of five nights at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Billed as Dave Chappelle Live on Broadway, the limited run spans July 9-13, with tickets launching June 21 at 10 a.m. ET. The recently prolific by way of Netflix comedian’s five-night takeover marks a partnership between Live Nation, the Araca Group, and EBG.
Earlier this year, Chappelle helped Will Smith land a first of his own. For a Will Smith’s Bucket List entry, Smith recruited Chappelle to help prep him for his inaugural stand-up performance.
“The first thing I’ll tell you is confidence is key,” Chappelle told Smith, as seen in the ensuing episode of the Facebook Watch series. “The reason you should be confident is primarily because you’re Will Smith.” Chappelle, in a bit of advice that actually applies to anyone living the stand-up life, also advised against the notion that comedians must be funny at every waking moment. Instead, Chappelle says being consistently interesting to the audience is far more important.
In October, Chappelle will be given the distinction of the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor in D.C. Previous honorees include Julia Louis-Dreyfus, David Letterman, Bill Murray, Eddie Murphy, and Whoopi Goldberg.
