‘Definitive’ Mac Miller Doc in the Works From ‘Perfect Bid’ Director C.J. Wallis

Filmmaker C.J. Wallis has announced the launch of production on what he says is the “definitive” Mac Miller documentary.
The film will be produced through his and Mallory Kennedy’s Margrette Bird Pictures, per Deadline. Wallis said Monday he plans to begin gathering interviews and additional footage over the next year. He also asked fans to reach out to him with suggestions on specific interviewees.
Though no release date has been set, an IMDb page listed as “Untitled Mac Miller Project” lists a projected release year of 2020.
Wallis has an extended music video history that includes a slew of work with Curren$y and Wiz Khalifa, as well as creative direction work for Jet Life Recordings. He’s also helmed Perfect Bid, a documentary about infamous The Price Is Right contestant Ted Slauson that’s currently available on Netflix.
In May, MusiCares announced the Mac Miller Legacy Fund for artists struggling with substance abuse.
“It’s critically important to our family to fund a safety net for artists and musicians who are struggling with substance addiction,” Mac’s family said in a statement announcing the fund, which includes nearly $1 million raised through last year’s A Celebration of Life tribute concert in Los Angeles. “No life should be cut short for lack of expert help.”
