DeMarcus Cousins Signs 1-Year Deal With Lakers

DeMarcus Cousins hit the market at an inopportune time, when no one was ready to invest in him until they knew where Kawhi Leonard was going to end up. And true to that, the Golden State center was snapped up as soon as Leonard was off the market. Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports that the Lakers have signed Cousins to a one-year contract.
While the Lakers are no doubt feeling a bit burnt now that Leonard and Paul George are suiting up for their crosstown rivals, a lineup that include LeBron James, Anthony Davis, and Cousins is nothing to sniff at. Oddsmakers who believe that the Clippers trade wholly shifted the balance of power in the NBA still had the AD and LeBron-led Lakers near the top of their list of likely title contenders. The addition of Cousins can only help in that regard.
Boogie played with Davis for a season and change in New Orleans, averaging around 25 points and 12 rebounds per game. It remains to be seen if the four-time All-Star can get back to that form after a down year with the Golden State Warriors, where Cousins was returning from an Achilles injury.
The one-year deal will be worth $3.5 million, according to Woj.
