Details for Disney’s Upcoming Streaming Service Revealed

Details about Disney‘s upcoming streaming service have been unveiled.
Kevin Mayer, head of Disney’s direct-to-consumer division, revealed at their investor event on Thursday that the company will “likely” offer a bundle that includes Disney+, ESPN+, and Hulu at a discounted rate to “offer more value for consumers,” according to The Verge.
Disney+ will be available for either $6.99 per month or $69.99 per year. Hulu has a monthly base price of $5.99 with a “no commercials” option coming in at $11.99 per month while ESPN+ is $4.99 a month.
With Disney+ set to enter the streaming service wars, along with Apple TV+, later this year, the company could gain a solid foothold by flexing their newly expanding company muscle in an effort to pull customers away from their chief competitor Netflix.
Given their controlling stake in Hulu following the acquisition of Fox which was finalized last month, Disney would benefit by bridging the gap between Hulu customers and their new streaming service. The inclusion of ESPN+ helps cast a wider net for customers, or at least members within the same plan, who consider sports to be their primary interest.
Of course, the best way to reel potential customers in is through their content. It was revealed earlier today that Captain Marvel and Iron Man will be available on the first day of the Disney+ launch. Oh, you can also stream Iron Man 3 and Thor: The Dark World that same day.
As for original programming, Disney+ will lean heavily into the MCU with Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan reprising their roles in The Falcon and The Winter Soldier, the Loki stand-alone series starring Tom Hiddleston, and a show with Jeremy Renner‘s Hawkeye. There’s also WandaVision with Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany returning as Wanda Maximoff and Vision.
Disney+ will have the Star Wars franchise covered with The Mandalorian, as well as a series based on Diego Luna’s character Cassian Andor from Rogue One.
Disney+ will launch on November 12.
