dexter’s Looking For “Something Real” On New Garage-Tinged Tune

South London’s dexter has had a busy 12 months and it doesn’t look like things are going to slow down any time soon as she presents her latest single, “Something Real”.
The singer-songwriter had been building up a healthy buzz for a while—which seemed to start almost as soon as she dropped her first couple tracks (recorded on her phone, by the way)—but when she put out her debut project, I Do Love A Good Sandwich, things really kicked off. She then inked a deal with Corteiz’s RULESTHEWORLD Records, went on tour with Denzel Curry and Fred Again, and put on the first Sandwich Party night—and she’s only just finished her A-levels.
A little different from some of her other tunes, “Something Real” still has that same intimate style in her songwriting and delivery, but Kurisu’s production packs a snappy 2-step beat to give it a little extra punch. An all-too-relatable number about reconciling expectation with reality and the crushing realisation that you might just be better off single, this may well have you crying in the club.
Tune in below.
