Dillon Brooks Shares His Dislike for Warriors & Draymond Green

A year removed from Memphis and Golden State’s six-game battle in the second round of the 2022 NBA Playoffs, there is still no love lost between the Grizzlies and Warriors.
In a new interview with ESPN, Memphis forward Dillon Brooks doesn’t shy away from sharing his distaste for the defending champs, particularly Draymond Green.
“I don’t like Draymond at all,” Brooks told Tim Keown. “I just don’t like Golden State. I don’t like anything to do with them. Draymond talks a lot. Gets away with a lot, too. His game is cool—with Golden State—but if you put him anywhere else, you’re not going to know who Draymond is. He plays with heart, plays hard, knows the ins and outs of their defense. I guess that’s why they like him over there.”
Kewon noted that, when informed about Brooks’ remarks, Draymond “laughed and chose to pass on the opportunity to respond.”
Brooks’ hostility toward the Warriors began in last year’s playoff series, when the 27-year-old was suspended for injuring Gary Payton II after committing a controversial flagrant 2 foul on the Golden State guard during the first quarter of Game 2. Brooks was subsequently suspended for Game 3.
Meanwhile, Brooks’ reputation as an NBA villain was cemented earlier this season, when Dillon threw a groin shot at Cavaliers guard Donovan Mitchell when the two players were tangled up under the basket.
With the Grizzlies and Warriors sitting firmly in the Western Conference playoff picture, here’s to hoping basketball fans are treated to Round 2 of their budding rivalry this spring.
