Disgraced Fyre Fest Founder Declares ‘Fyre Festival II’ Is Coming

Nearly one year after being released early from prison over the highly publicized failure known as Fyre Festival, Billy McFarland appears to be looking to bring the event back.
McFarland posted a tweet Sunday declaring that Fyre Festival II is “finally happening.”
“Tell me why you should be invited,” he added.
McFarland was sentenced to six years in prison in 2018 after pleading guilty to two counts of wire fraud in connection to Fyre Fest. He was also ordered to pay back the $26 million he received from investors for the event. After he was granted an early release last year, his attorney Jason Russo said McFarland would look into his next venture for the direct purpose of “generating the restitution for paying back his victims.”
McFarland issued an apology to everyone he wronged through Fyre Festival in his first TV interview since his prison release.
He also shared a tweet last month outlining how he intends on earning the $26 million he owes investors.
It appears launching Fyre Festival II doesn’t fall into either one of these options. It also appears Twitter was quick to leap on McFarland’s tweet announcing its existence.
