Disney+ Adds ‘Luke Cage,’ ‘Daredevil,’ and More Past Netflix Shows

The Marvel streaming experience is about to get even easier, with Disney+ set to add more live-action series from the studio to its catalog later this month.
Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, The Defenders, Iron Fist, and The Punisher will all join the Disney+ roster on March 16 for users in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, New Zealand, and Australia. Also on March 16, at least for those in the U.S., is the Disney+ arrival of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
“We have experienced great success with an expanded content offering on Disney+ across our global markets and are excited to continue that here in the U.S. as well by offering our consumers not only great content with the new Marvel additions, but also a set of features that help ensure a viewing experience most suitable for them and their family,” Michael Paull, president of Disney Streaming, said Tuesday.
As for the latter, Paull is referencing Disney+’s simultaneous unveiling of an update to the U.S. platform’s Parental Controls feature. Per a press release, users will be asked later this month to update their settings, which will allow for customizable restrictions with regards to specific content ratings.
Until Monday, the shows at the center of this Disney+ update (aside from ABC’s Agents) were found on Netflix. In short, the rights—as of Feb. 28—reverted back to Disney after previously being licensed to the streaming platform.
The haul of former Netflix exclusives will join other Marvel-affiliated TV properties that have always called Disney+ their home, including the Elizabeth Olsen and Paul Bettany-led WandaVision.
To mark the news, Disney and Marvel shared a compilation clip highlighting select moments from each new-to-the-platform series. See that below.
