Disney Plus has reached 28.6 million paying subscribers, Variety reported on Tuesday.
Bob Iger, the CEO of Disney, made the announcement on the streaming service’s company earnings call.
According to Variety, the Disney boss also said that the Star Wars hit series The Mandalorian will be back for its second season in October of 2020. Apparently, the show will host a variety of new characters that might get their own standalone shows down the line. Iger reportedly said that Disney is looking at “the possibility of infusing [Mandalorian] with more characters and taking those characters in their own direction in terms of series.”
Fans can also look forward to Marvel’s The Falcon and the Winter Soldier to hit the streamer in August, and WandaVision to arrive in December. So far, there are no specific dates for the upcoming shows.
Iger must have been in a great mood on the call, because he revealed that there are several other Marvel series on the way as well. “There are seven other Marvel series in various stages of development or pre-production,” he said, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
