Disney Will Offer Disney+, ESPN+ and Hulu Bundle for $12.99

Written by on August 6, 2019

Disney is coming for Netflix‘s throne.

On Tuesday, the conglomerate confirmed it will offer a streaming bundle of Disney+, ESPN+, and the ad-supported version of Hulu for only $12.99 per month. As Deadline points out, this is the same price for Netflix’s most popular plan, signaling another huge blow to the streaming giant as the pool of on-demand entertainment becomes increasingly competitive.

Individual plans for Disney+, ESPN+, and the basic tier of Hulu cost $6.99, $4.99, and $5.99, respectively, which means customers who decide to bundle the three services will save $5 each billing cycle. Disney’s CEO Bob Iger announced the offer during the company’s third-quarter earnings call with Wall Street analysts. The bundle is expected to take effect Nov. 12, in conjunction with Disney+’s official launch.

“Nothing is more important to us than getting this right,” Iger said about Disney’s streaming venture.

Variety reports Iger also revealed the company was in talks with major competitors—like Apple, Amazon, and Google—to distribute Disney+ on their platforms: “We think it’s important to achieve scale relatively quickly and they’ll be an important part of that.”

Disney’s streaming service will include hundreds of films from the studio’s vault as well as original content, like The Mandalorian and WandaVision. During Tuesday’s meeting with investors, Iger announced a number of titles that will be reimagined for Disney+; these include Home Alone, Night at the Museum, and Cheaper by the Dozen reboots.

Stay tuned as more details about Disney+ roll out.
