Doc Rivers, the head coach of the Los Angeles Clippers, was fined $50,000 by the NBA for tampering over comments he made comparing Kawhi Leonard and Michael Jordan.
“[Kawhi] is the most like Jordan that we’ve seen,” Rivers said while on NBA on ESPN. “Not that he’s Jordan, or anything like that. But he’s the most like him. Big hands, post game, can finish, great leaper, great defender, in between game. If you beat him to the spot, he bumps you off. And then you add his 3-point shooting.”

Shortly after Rivers made the comments, a wave of disagreement and accusations of tampering was expressed online.
Love Kawhi and I understand he means because he’s a great two way player, but people need to take a deep breath and count to 10. https://t.co/vSQavVaDOo

Doc Rivers saying Kawhi is most like MJ since MJ on a national platform isn’t considered tampering? Asking for a friend.

There have been multiple reports that the Clippers are attempting to acquire Kawhi as the current Raptors star is rapidly approaching free agency.
Kawhi and the Toronto Raptors are currently facing the Warriors in the 2019 NBA Finals.
