21 Savage not only blessed fans in Atlanta with a memorable performance of his own on Wednesday, but he also surprised attendees with a special (and previously unannounced) appearance by Drake.
The show in question was sponsored by Pandora and took place at Forbes Arena amid Morehouse and Spelman Homecoming 2022 festivities. Serving as host was Fly Guy DC, who slyly teased that fans should expect a surprise when sharing the show’s official flyer earlier this month.
Subsequently shared footage from the event shows the level of surprise was quite high among the crowd when Drake later hit the stage, after which he performed tracks including “Knife Talk” and “Nonstop.
“By the way, I didn’t get invited to this show,” Drake told the crowd at one point. “Nobody from Morehouse asked me to perform. My brother brought me here, so make some noise.”
In fact, Drake wasn’t the only special guest brought out during Wednesday’s show. See additional footage below.
Over the summer, Drake and 21’s Honestly, Nevermind collab “Jimmy Cooks” debuted atop the Billboard Hot 100 songs chart. At the time, this marked the 11th No. 1 Hot 100 entry for Drake, as well as the second for 21. This year has been a particularly prolific one for 21, who this month unveiled his RtA capsule.
In September, Jordan Rose ranked 21 Savage’s best features of 2022, including “Way Past Luck” with DJ Khaled and the aforementioned “Jimmy Cooks.” See the full list here.
