Drake Previews New Collabs With Playboi Carti, Fivio Foreign, and Sosa Geek

Drake‘s been keeping productive while staying indoors. Last week, the Toronto artist released “Toosie Slide,” along with an accompanying music video shot inside his Toronto mansion that played like one big flex. He’s got even more music chambered for fans, as evidenced by his appearance on OVO Mark’s Instagram Live DJ session late Monday night.
One of the new songs previewed was Drake’s anticipated collaboration with Playboi Carti. The song, known as “Pain 1993,” is produced by Pi’erre Bourne and is expected to arrive on Carti’s upcoming album Whole Lotta Red.
A release date for Whole Lotta Red has yet to be set. Playboi Carti kept a relatively low profile in 2019, appearing on a handful of songs while dropping no solo material. He recently made headlines for being arrested on gun and drug-related charges.
If 2020 is the year for Whole Lotta Red, Carti fans—Drake included—will finally receive the proper follow-up to his 2018 debut album, Die Lit.
Drake also shared his verse from his upcoming collaboration with Sosa Geek and Fivio Foreign. The JB MadeIt-produced track was previously teased in February and offers more Drake over UK drill backdrops; he went the drill route earlier this year with “War.”
Other unreleased material was played during the session, including a verse that had leaked in 2014 (known at the time as “Views from the 6”) that would later become “U With Me?” for his 2016 album VIEWS.
