Drake Seen Groping 17-Year-Old Girl in Resurfaced Video

Written by on January 5, 2019

Surviving R. Kelly has reignited the conversation about sexual abuse and statutory rape within music. The six-part docu-series premiered Thursday night on Lifetime and garnered a great deal of attention on social media, with many users pointing to other instances in which musicians allegedly preyed on young girls.

Shortly after the series’ first two installments aired, a Twitter user posted an old video of Drake inappropriately touching an underaged fan. The Toronto rapper is seen on stage kissing the girl and lightly fondling her breasts in front of a concert crowd. Drake then asks the girl how old she is, to which she replies, “17.”

“I can’t go to jail yet, man!” Drake jokingly says in the video. “Why do you look like that?! You thick. Look at all this… Well look, I had fun. I don’t know whether I should feel guilty or not, but I had fun. I like the way your breasts feel against my chest. I just want to thank you.”

Drake kisses her again before she makes her way off the stage.

According to The Sun, the incident occurred back in 2010 at the Ogden Theatre in Denver, Colorado, where the age of consent is 17.

Twitter users immediately criticized Drake for his behavior and called attention to his previous controversies involving young girls. The rapper raised eyebrows when he went on a dinner date with Bella Harris, an 18-year-old model who reportedly met Drake when she was 16. He also received backlash for his seemingly close friendship with 14-year-old Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown.

Complex has reached out to Drake’s representatives for comment.
