Drake’s ‘Certified Lover Boy’ Spends Second Week at No. 1 on Billboard 200

Written by on September 20, 2021

There was no question that Drake’s Certified Lover Boy would have some longevity, but its second-week numbers are getting doubters to “Pipe Down.”

Drizzy’s latest studio album landed atop the Billboard 200 for a second-straight week, earning 236,000 equivalent album units during its second go-ahead on the charts, according to Billboard. The second-week sales numbers bring CLB’s total to 849,000 total units earned, marking Drake’s fourth album to spend a second week at No. 1 thanks to its 227,000 SEA units earned— roughly 305.43 million on-demand streams—6,500 album sales and 2,500 TEA units earned in week two.

Kanye West’s 10th studio album Donda moved 79,000 equivalent album units this past week, remaining at No. 2 on the chart. Following Yeezy this week is Kacey Musgraves’ Star-Crossed at No. 3 (77,000 equivalent album units earned), Olivia Rodrigo’s unshakable debut offering Sour at No. 4 (54,000 equivalent album units earned), and Baby Keem’s debut album The Melodic Blue (53,000) at No. 5.

Of course, after earning the biggest week of any album since Taylor Swift’s 2020 effort Folklore with 613,000 equivalent album units last week, CLB has seen some other historic charting achievements. On Monday, it was revealed that Drake landed 9 songs off the album within the Hot 100’s top 10—the first time an artist has ever done so. Before the CLB take-over, only four albums had 7 tracks in the top 10; Michael Jackson’s Thriller, Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814, Bruce Springsteen’s Born in the USA, and Drizzy’s 2018 effort Scorpion.

Among the tracks racking up streams, the Future and Young Thug-featuring “Way 2 Sexy” sat at the top of the Hot 100 this week, one of five songs occupying the top five spots on the Hot 100. Only the Beatles have accomplished that same feat, according to Billboard.
