No, Frank Ocean did not end up being a surprise performer at this weekend’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in Los Angeles, California.
Instead, attending fans were gifted Sunday night with an unannounced appearance by Drake, though—as the timeline has surely informed you by now—there was apparently some confusion and frustration connected with this surprise.
“They told me to come out and maybe do, like, two or three songs for y’all tonight but I’mma ask your permission, because I know this is your festival, I’mma ask your permission if I can stay up here and turn up with you for a little longer tonight,” Drake told the crowd at one point during the surprise mini-set.
Later, Drake again addressed the crowd, though he this time appeared to be not pleased with the reaction (which included some cheers, some boos, and some shouted “No” objections) to his inquiries about possibly running through some more songs.
“If you wanna keep going, I will keep going tonight,” he said, ultimately walking off the stage. “Well, look, it’s been love . . . Thank you for having me,” he told the crowd.
