Draymond Green’s Mom, Kevin Durant’s Brother Speak Out on Tension

Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green got into a bit of a spat with his teammate Kevin Durant following their loss to the Los Angeles Clippers on Monday (Nov. 12) night, with the latter blaming their defeat on the former’s last-minute slip-up. When the game was tied in its closing moments, Green dribbled upcourt as Durant made it clear he was making a mistake. Green lost the ball, and the two subsequently got into an argument.
Now, Green’s mother Mary Babers Green, is defending her son on Twitter. The fallout of Green’s mistake and Durant’s criticism was felt almost immediately after the game finished, with Green receiving a suspension without pay for one game for “conduct detrimental to the team.” Green’s mother, however, thinks Durant is to blame for the play. “KD should have ran and fill the lane like he always does,” she tweeted.
“Dray got trapped because he was expecting him to be there and he wasn’t!” She followed up the tweet with a response to a fan. “Dray been bringing the ball up every game and was commended for it.” It’s evident that she’s ride or die for her son, just like every mother should be.
Durant’s brother replied on his IG story as well, saying “True colors ain’t hard to see when someone is mad! It’s so much more clearer now lol.” He cautioned that people will “see you for what you really are,” too.
Sources close to the situation said Durant immediately criticized Draymond Green for failing to get him the ball as the game slipped into overtime, with Green responding “Who the fuck you talking to?” Defending his abilities on the court, Green was allegedly called a “bitch” by Durant multiple times during the back and forth.
Their teammate Shaun Livingston attempted to downplay the beef between the two, calling it “team spirit.” Durant, meanwhile, seems eager to move on from the altercation, explaining, ”I’m not trying to give nobody no headlines. What happened, happened. We’re trying to move on, we’re just trying to play basketball.”
