Paintings from Raqib Shaw are the focus of a new exhibition opening at Dries Van Noten’s Little House gallery space this month.
As part of a collaboration with the Jay Jopling-owned White Cube gallery, Dries Van Noten and curator/dealer Jeffrey Deitch will present the Tales From an Urban Garden exhibition at the Little House space in Los Angeles, with a confirmed opening date of Feb. 16. Notably, the Dries Van Noten Los Angeles exhibition will mark Shaw’s first in the city.
Shaw’s Tales from an Urban Garden will be on view until March 26. Gallery visitors can also expect a Shaw-produced book on the exhibition to be featured as part of the larger experience, which is partially intended to give visitors a sense of what it’s like to be at Shaw’s studio garden in London.
Pictured up top is a piece by Raqib Shaw titled “A Summer of Sombre Stirrings in the Garden of Blissful Solitude.” Below, see additional pieces, including (in order) “Sirens of Mirth in the Garden of Perpetual Pleasure” and “High on Hope.”
For more info on the new exhibition, see the recently released preview video (directed by Dom Gilday) below.
In January, Dries Van Noten Los Angeles unveiled an exhibition centered on doll-focused artist Julian Kalinowski. The Little House, meanwhile, also served as the site of the years-spanning Grant Shumate Various Pieces exhibition last May.
