Eminem Tells Dr. Dre That Kendrick Lamar’s New Album Left Him ‘Speechless’

Eminem has listened to Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers, and he’s giving Kendrick Lamar his props.
The soon-to-be Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee took to Twitter on Sunday—two days after the release of K-Dot’s fifth studio album—to commend the fellow Dr. Dre disciple and Dre himself.
“Yo @DrDre this Kendrick album is f****** ridiculous,” Em wrote while self-censoring. “I’m speechless.”
Of course, this tweet comes three months after the trio—alongside Mary J. Blige, 50 Cent, and Snoop Dogg—took the stage at the Super Bowl Halftime Show to commemorate Dre’s legacy of hit-making. The performance was a memorable one, with Fif hanging upside down, Eminem taking a knee, and decades of classics being played all while the superstar ensemble gave Dre his flowers.
Kendrick himself is going to see plenty of flowers in the coming weeks, as Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers is set to top the Billboard 200 with a projected 325,000 to 350,000 equivalent album units landed in the U.S. for the album’s first week, according to HITS Daily Double. These numbers would represent the biggest opening week of 2022 so far, as the album is estimated to bring in 400 million U.S. streams in its first week.
Its lengthy list of credits include songs produced by and guest features from Boi-1da, The Alchemist, Dahi, Sounwave, Beach Noise, Pharrell, and more, as Baby Keem, Summer Walker, Beth Gibbons of Portishead, Kodak Black, and more. It marks Lamar’s last on Top Dawg Entertainment, and first on his pgLang label. TDE President Punch made sure to salute Kendrick on Twitter this week before he made his way out.
“Shout out to Kendrick Lamar and co… congrats on the new album,” Punch wrote. “Last one on TDE. We made history! Much love and continued success.”
