Fan Noise Reportedly Causes Piece of Ceiling to Fall in Superdome

New Orleans is a loud city with an international reputation for being the home of all-night music in round-the-clock bars. When you compress that into an indoor stadium full of championship-starved fans a game away from the Super Bowl, things are bound to get strange. The noise of Saints fans in the Superdome caused a portion of the stadium’s ceiling to fall.
After a DeMario Davis interception, the ceiling just couldn’t handle the sound of the Saints fans. Times-Picayune reporter Julie Boudwin shared shots of the collapse, including detailed shots of the broken concrete.
“Apparently part of the ceiling fell near the media workroom in the Super Dome after DeMario Davis’ interception. That’s how loud [Saints] fans are right now,” she wrote.
The Saints forced the Rams to an uncharacteristically slow start on their way to a 13-10 halftime advantage. They punched in a touchdown in the third quarter to extend the lead.
