Fans Criticize Cher After George Floyd Trial Tweets

Derek Chauvin’s murder trial is currently underway, for the charges of third-degree murder, second-degree manslaughter, and second-degree murder for the death of George Floyd.
There are a lot of eyes on the trial right now, as a number of first-hand witnesses have been taking the stand to relay the day’s events to the court. It seems that Cher’s mother, Georgia Holt has also been watching the trial, with Cher taking to Twitter to share a conversation she and her mother had about the legal proceedings.
“Was talking With Mom,” Cher began, “and She Said ‘I Watched Trial Of Policeman Who Killed George Floyd & Cried.’”
Cher continued, “I Said, ‘Mom,I Know This Is Gonna Sound CRAZY,But.. I Kept Thinking …..Maybe If I’d Been There,…I Could’ve Helped.’”
The singer’s suggestion didn’t sit well with a lot of her fans and followers, as many called her out for a white savior complex. Others demanded her to delete the tweet. The trial against Chauvin—the State of Minnesota v. Derek Michael Chauvin—began in March at the Hennepin County Government Center in Minneapolis.
