Fat Joe: ‘I’d Die Before You See Me in the Picture With Tekashi 6ix9ine’

Fat Joe has closed the door on 6ix9ine.
Months before the DUMMY BOY rapper was arrested on federal racketeering charges, the artists sat down for a one-on-one interview in which Joe warned 6ix9ine about his looming legal troubles. The Terror Squad rapper pointed to the case of Bobby Shmurda, the NYC rapper who is currently locked up on conspiracy and weapons charges.
“Bobby Shmurda got Fat Joe’d. These people, these police tried to set me up so many times, my n***a. They did not like who I was, who I stood for,” Joe told 6ix9ine. “[…] They wanted to get me like they got [Bobby], but they got him. One million percent they are plotting on you.”
As we now know, Joe’s prediction was right. 6ix9ine is currently behind bars along with other suspected members of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods street gang. The 22-year-old artist has since pleaded guilty to nine counts of racketeering, firearms offenses, and drug trafficking, and has also implicated his co-defendants. Joe, like many other rappers, had an issue with 6ix9ine’s cooperation with authorities and his “snitch” behavior.
The 48-year-old artist condemned 6ix9ine’s actions during a recent appearance on the Angie Martinez Show, insisting he would never associate with the rapper.
“I thought he was a nice guy, and now he can’t be my friend, he can’t come around me ever again,” Joe said (19:10). “Those are rules. He crossed that line […] I pray for people who cross that line—when they talk to the police and they snitch, I pray for them.”
Joe also said he didn’t understand why some hip-hop fans were continuing to support 6ix9ine, despite his cooperation with police. He acknowledged many listeners simply don’t care that 6ix9ine betrayed his associates, as his music still gets played in the club; but Joe said he can’t look past the snitching.
“I’d die before you see me in the picture with Tekashi 6ix9ine,” Joe explained.
He went on to say that the “Fat Joe back in the day” would’ve beaten up any DJ who played 6ix9ine’s music in the club after it was revealed that the “Gummo” rapper snitched.
“I’m looking at what alleges to be street guys or gangsters […] singing the guy’s lyrics in the club knowing the guy’s on the daily news talkin’ about he spilled the beans. It’s crazy,” Joe said.
Joe then shared some kind words for Shmurda, who also blasted 6ix9ine.
“Now Bobby Shmurda, I think I’m gonna walk around with a Bobby Shmurda jersey for keeping it real,” Joe said. “I’m old school. I’m ready to make a fuckin’ Bobby Shmurda tattoo on my ass. I never knew I loved him so much.”
