Felicity Huffman Set to Plead Guilty in College Cheating Scandal

As expected, Felicity Huffman will plead guilty Monday to her involvement with the massive college cheating scandal that served as the latest reminder to us all that nearly every facet of human existence is rooted in total disregard for fairness.

Huffman, per Reuters, will plead guilty in Boston federal court to paying $15,000 to have someone cheat on her daughter’s behalf during college entrance testing. Devin Sloane, another parent implicated in the bribery bust, will also plead guilty to paying William Singer (who previously pleaded guilty) $250,000 for similar services involving purported water polo-ing.

“I am pleading guilty to the charge brought against me by the United States Attorney’s Office,” Huffman said back in April in a statement through her publicist. “I am in full acceptance of my guilt, and with deep regret and shame over what I have done, I accept full responsibility for my actions and will accept the consequences that stem from those actions.”

The star of the now-postponed Otherhood also said she was “ashamed” to have caused “pain” for her family.

Prosecutors are said to be keen on going after a sentence for Huffman in the 4-10 months range. Husband William H. Macy was not charged in connection with the case. Meanwhile, Fuller House‘s Lori Loughlin—among the dozens of others who were named in the bust—is expected to go a different route with her legal strategy.
