A Florida man was arrested Friday after police found guns, drugs, and a live baby alligator inside his truck, per WFLA.
Michael Marolla, 31, was stopped around 12:30 a.m. in his black GMC Sierra pickup truck. The Collier County Sheriff’s Office said deputies identified Marolla based on “previous law enforcement encounters as having a suspended license.” Authorities searched the vehicle where they found a gun inside the glove compartment, and another hidden under the front passenger seat.
The live baby alligator was discovered inside an open plastic tub in the bed of the pickup truck. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission’s website states that a valid Alligator Trapping License is required in order for someone to legally own live American alligators from the wild.
Deputies found syringes inside Marolla’s jacket which later tested positive for methamphetamine.
Marolla was charged with two counts of carrying a concealed firearm, possession of a controlled substance (amphetamine), and possession of narcotic equipment. were also contacted to address the presence of the alligator.
Marolla was released on bond Saturday. He’s expected to return to court on May 2.
