Florida Man Charged With Threatening to Kill Trump Over Soleimani’s Death on Facebook Live

Written by on January 12, 2020

A South Florida man faces federal charges after threatening to kill Donald Trump to avenge Qassem Soleimani—the Iranian commander who was killed this month in a U.S. airstrike.

According to NBC Miami, Chauncy Lump was arrested last Saturday over a Facebook Live broadcast in which he was seen donning white cream on his face and towel wrapped like a turban on his head. The stream took place on Jan. 3, shortly after President Trump announced he had directed the targeted attack on Soleimani in Baghdad.

“He killed my leader. Please tell me where is Donald Trump?” Lump was heard saying in the seven-plus-minute broadcast.

According to a complaint obtained by Local10, Lump also threatened to attack Broward County.

“I need to find the Donald, because if I don’t find him, I am going to have to blow up Broward County. So please tell me where his is. I don’t want to have to blow up the Broward County tonight,” the 26-year-old security guard said. “… Do not play with me. I have AK-47. I have it here. Do not play with me, OK. I will come to Broward County tonight. I am gonna come to Broward County.”

A Facebook employee notified the Broward County Sheriff’s Office about the stream, and Lump was arrested the following day. Lump reportedly admitted to officers that he produced the broadcast, but insisted it was a joke. “I shouldn’t have did it in the first place,” he said, according to a complaint.

Lump is currently being held in county jail without bond. He’s expected to make a court appearance next Thursday, Jan. 16.
