Floyd Mayweather Responds to ‘Cheating Ass’ Canelo Alvarez’s Rematch Challenge

Floyd Mayweather isn’t stepping into the ring any time soon, but the “retired” boxer wants everyone to know that he still could.
After Mexican boxer Canelo Alvarez called him out in a recent interview, saying that Mayweather would be risking his unbeaten record if he gave Alvarez a rematch, Mayweather posted a throwback photo of himself punching Alvarez in the face.
In the caption, Mayweather made reference to Alvarez’s recent bust for using performance-enhancing drugs and said that Alvarez was easier to beat than UFC fighter Conor McGregor.
“It didn’t matter if Canelo ate his PED steak or not this night, this was by far the easiest fight of my career!” he said. “Connor McQuitter was a way better fighter than Canelo’s cheating ass and I beat the brakes off him too!”
As it always does with Mayweather, talk turned to money.
“It takes me 36 mins or less to make $300 million plus. It literally takes me 1 night and 1 fight to make what you might make in 5 years and 11 fights! So really, who’s still winning? You do the math!” he said.
Alvarez isn’t exactly hurting for cash. He just signed the largest contract in the history of sports for six years and $365 million with DAZN. He really just wants to fight Mayweather again and avenge his loss to the undefeated boxer in 2013.
He told TMZ Sports that Mayweather is giving boxing a bad name by only boxing in events that are more sideshow than sport.
“He wants to continue hurting boxing by making fights that don’t make sense… and not giving boxing the credibility it deserves,” he said. “If he wants to return, I ask him to look my way to give a great fight to the fans […] Let’s do the second fight. It’s very important. We have something pending there, so let’s make the second fight.”
Mayweather recently said that he would fight UFC champion Khabib Nurmagomedov or have a rematch with Manny Pacquiao. He didn’t respond to Alvarez’s challenge.
