Forest Whitaker Thinks Migos Song Named After Him Is ‘Brilliant’

Forest Whitaker was immortalized on Migos‘ 2015 mixtape, Back to the Bando. And as it turns out, the Oscar-winning actor has not only heard the underground single, but is a huge fan of it as well.
During a recent interview, MSNBC’s Ari Melber asked Whitaker if he’s heard the song, to which the actor replied that his daughter first brought it to his attention. “I listened to it and it’s really pretty brilliant,” Whitaker says around the 3-minute mark of the clip above. “The way they took all these different films and things I’ve done and put them together in this amazing song. It was quite surprising actually.”
Whitaker is currently the executive producer and star of Epix’s Godfather of Harlem. The series follows the life and career of crime boss Bumpy Johnson. To help add texture to the series, Whitaker and Epix tapped Swizz Beats to be the show’s executive music producer. Swizz reportedly brought in a lot of talent to create original songs for the series, which Whitaker discussed with Melber. “[Swizz Beats] brought in all these different musicians and artists,” Whitaker explained. “And I have great respect for what they do.”
The song “Just in Case,” which features Swizz, Rick Ross and DMX, dropped in September alongside a music video starring Whitaker himself. Check it out below.
