The former Miss Kentucky, Ramsey Carpenter-Bearse, admitted to exchanging nudes with a 15-year-old boy.
On Tuesday, 29-year-old Carpenter-Bearse pled guilty to a charge of possessing material depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct. According to the local CBS affiliate, Carpenter-Bearse was a middle school teacher when she was arrested last year for sending nude pictures to a former student.
Carpenter-Bearse claims that the exchanged started by her accidentally sending a photo that meant for her husband to the teenager via Snapchat. When the teen asked for more pictures, she “panicked” and decided to send additional photos. Eventually, he responded by sending a picture of his genitals to her.
“Since I am the adult, and he was just a teenager, it is my fault, and I accept full blame for the situation,” Carpenter-Bearse told the court. “So that’s how I’m guilty of this crime. I messed up big time.”
The teen’s parent reportedly found Carpenter-Bearse photos on his phone which he saved from Snapchat.
Carpenter-Bearse was named Miss Kentucky in 2014. She wowed judges by playing the fiddle. In 2015, she placed in the top twelve of the national Miss America pageant. Following her time as a beauty queen, Carpenter-Bearse moved to West Virginia where she began working as a teacher.
Carpenter-Bearse is currently out on bail and will be sentenced in January. She faces a minimum of two years in prison and a maximum of 50 years on probation. She will also have to register as a convicted sex offender.
