Former NFL Player Albert Haynesworth in ‘Dire Need’ of a Donor Following Kidney Failure

Written by on July 11, 2019

Former NFL player Albert Haynesworth needs your help.

After battling kidney disease for “a few years,” Haynesworth is now “in dire need” of a kidney after his own failed him on July 7. His doctors suggested that he reach out to his family, friends, and fans with this request, and did so with an Instagram post detailing his current situation.

This is the second serious health scare that Haynesworth has had to deal with since he last played in the NFL in 2011.

Haynesworth suffered two brain aneurysms that nearly killed him in 2014. “Nobody really knows: I almost died,” he told ESPN. “I had two brain aneurysms that were nearly rupturing. I went and talked to my doctor in Florida, and he was like, ‘Man, your blood pressure is through the roof. I’m going to admit you.’ They did a lot of tests and found the aneurysm that was rupturing at that point.”

Haynesworth was hopeful that despite his occasional inability to remember things, like how he normally writes his signature, he was optimistic that he would eventually get better. Now Albert is in the midst of another battle, but he can’t do this one on his own.
